Stephen Neville: Riding the Waves of Growth
Stephen Neville, Vice President at Island Construction Corporation, believes in the importance of education. "Knowledge is power," he says – a perspective that has served him well in his career progression from a project manager in 2011 to where he is now. With a background in the computer and technology space, Stephen uses every opportunity to learn something new every day, build solid connections and continue growing.
“I have developed a lot of long-standing friendships and business relationships that are the backbone of support that one needs in an industry like this. You’re only as good as the support you have,” he shared. “Everyone grows from the experiences of others.”
In his day-to-day role, Stephen works with a variety of teams to create amazing aquatic spaces, but he’ll admit he has a soft spot for working with mechanical, electrical and architectural designers. He strives to foster supportive environments, and those around him recognize his thoughtful approach to work. His colleagues even voted him Building Professional of the Year and Young Professional of the Year in 2018.
As a Pool & Hot Tub Alliance member, his impact extends industry-wide. He collaborates with fellow professionals, sharing knowledge and offering his expertise to support their work while also cultivating his network. “Volunteering on PHTA councils and committees affords me the opportunity to be at the forefront of current and relevant issues affecting the pool industry and finding ways to make things better for the end user, service professional or builder,” Stephen shared.
No matter what stage of your career, embracing a growth mindset is essential. It is the gateway for innovation, problem-solving and discussion – and the foundation to a successful career in the aquatics industry.
