Rick Woemmel: Celebrating 30 Years of Aquatics Business
Transforming his home office into a thriving business, Bi-State Pool & Spa President Rick Woemmel is a tried-and-true industry leader. What started as a “fun stop” in his career became a lifelong passion for aquatics. And 30 years later, he’s never looked back.
Rick’s foray in aquatics began during his lifeguarding days in high school and college. After graduating, he jumped at the opportunity to start a business and took advantage of educational classes to accelerate his career. He also joined multiple chapters, councils and committees, forming strong relationships with industry leaders.
“When I found out that you could make not only a living doing this, but quite a good living, I was hooked. If you enjoy what you are doing, you will never work a day in your life,” he shared.
Flash forward to today, Bi-State Pool & Spa is an award-winning company with over 70 employees building more than 100 pools a year. In 2018, Rick received the Certified Service Professional of the Year Award, a major industry recognition and the highlight of his career.
Now, Rick plays a major role in giving back to the industry, sharing his expertise with the next generation. He teaches classes as part of PHTA Education programs, discussing his experience and tips for newcomers, such as the importance of educating yourself.
